All ingredients in our products are readily biodegradable, which helps contribute to improved water quality and water systems, reduced environmental contamination, and less hazardous waste. Our formulas are free from PFOAs and PFAs, Sulfates, Parabens, Silicones, harsh chemicals, SLS, or harsh allergens.
Our Packaging
Alter:Bio's Active Dish Soap and Active Surface Spray bottles are made with 30%+ post-consumer High-Density Polyethylene and are 100% recyclable. Our shipping boxes use recycled cardboard and recycled paper, and our postcards are made on recycled paper. Currently, our proprietary synbiotic solutions work most effectively in opaque packaging as this keeps the synbiotics alive and actively cleaning, while maintaining a 2-year shelf stability.

Meet the Founder
Lauren Taylor
The importance of having a healthy, balanced lifestyle was ingrained in our founder at a young age, from cooking seasonal and local produce, spending time outdoors, and minimizing processed and chemical products from beauty to home. She grew up learning to garden from her mother, spent time on her grandparents’ farm learning about our soil and environmental ecosystems, and worked with impact-driven businesses practicing conscious capitalism and supporting female founders. When it came to cleaning, she used to look for labels like “cruelty-free” and “eco-friendly”. Lauren trusted what was marketed to her, until she started getting rashes and eczema from exposure to harsh chemicals, heavy fragrances and oils, and plastics she didn’t even know she was consuming. Family members had flare ups and allergen issues during Covid - and she thought there has to be better solutions. Lauren began learning about ingredients, chemistry, scientific innovations, and bans in Europe and felt inspired to build something better - something you could actually trust, but that was still highly effective at cleaning. Cleaning products need to work, after all! Then Alter:Bio was born and made for everyone to have access to healthy, smart solutions. Welcome to the Future of Clean.

We are pleased to ship to all 50 states in the USA. We look forward to expanding our business to more countries in the near future. Sales tax may apply based on state laws.
We are dedicated to shipping your order as quickly as possible so you can join our community. Orders will be processed within 2 working days, and shipments are expected to arrive within 5-8 working days. Free ground shipping is offered over orders of $49.

What is your Return Policy?
We hope you love our products as much as we do. In the event of dissatisfaction or damage, please email support@shopalterbio.com within 15 days of delivery, and put your order number in the subject line, along with images of damage or defective items.
Products still sealed within their original packaging are subject to inspection by our team for review. Full refunds, partial refunds, store credit, or exchanges for products are on a case by case basis. Shipping costs are not eligible for refund, and in some cases, return shipping will be covered by the customer or deducted from the order. Please provide a note internally with your order number, name and email, or the original packing slip. What are Synbiotics?
We love synbiotics - we love them so much that’s why we made Alter:Bio, for you to try them and love them too. Learn more about Synbiotics on our science page, homepage and product pages.
Similar to how probiotics and microbiome-rich foods (think yogurt, fermented foods) can improve your gut health, our blend of bio-fermented biologicals help to improve your home health. What’s your home health? Think microscopic particles in your air (dustmites, sneezes, germs, mold) and on your counters. Our synbiotics help to break down these particles by eating them and creating a healthier home microbiome.

Is Alter:Bio safe around my children or pets? Do your formulas have allergens? What are your safety standards?
Alter:Bio was designed and formulated with children, pets and the environment in mind. Our formulas have been dermatologist-tested on 200 respondents per product, (HRIPT test) to ensure the formulas are safe for humans, including children. They are also hypoallergenic, for those with asthma and allergies, and safe for those with sensitive skin. Our products have been toxicologist-reviewed to be safe around children, babies, pets and pregnant women, when used as directed. Our products meet European Standards, one of the most rigorous standards in the world for ingredients.
Our products have a neutral ph 5.00 - 6.00.
Our products are free from SLS< phthalates, Parabens, Silicones, Chlorine and PFAs and PFOAs.
